AOTA Inspire kicks off on April 6, 2021. It’s a conference unlike any other, and I’m excited to see how it goes! Amplify OT’s AOTA Inspire Sessions will take place during Kick-Off Week. AOTA Inspire boasts over 500 sessions and the ability to receive 35+ CEUs!
This year, Conference will be virtual, and sessions will air over 4 weeks vs. only 3-4 days. Additionally, the sessions will be available for viewing until June 30th. Register today at www.aota.org/inspire.
What to Expect
First, sessions were all pre-recorded, so you’ll be seeing a recorded presentation. However, the presenters will be available live via chat once the session airs. So, if you come to my session when it is scheduled, I’ll be available on the chat to answer any and all questions!
Second, expect lots of bloopers. There were some technical learning curves to accomplish this task, and I guarantee some sessions or moments might be a bit… rough… Personally, during the first session I recorded, I started reading my script for the previous slide again, stopped, apologized, and started over. Also, one of the slides was covered by my taskbar because I didn’t realize it was being recorded. Live and learn, right?
Third, expect lots of AMAZING sessions! Typically, I have to try and decide between two interesting sessions at the same time. Afterward, I always wonder what I missed during the session. Now, I don’t have to worry! I can watch any session I want.
Amplify OT’s AOTA Inspire Sessions
Short Course 118 – Home & Community Health SIS: Addressing Medicare Part B in the Home

Tue, April 6th, 3:15 PM – 4:15 PM EST
This session is all about providing outpatient Medicare Part B service in the home. I am giving this prevention alongside Ariel Cipoletta, Robin Askelrud, and Jackee Ndwaru McGlamery as part of the Home and Community Health Special Interest Section.
Many ethical and legal considerations must be considered when providing private-practice therapy in the home. This session will provide attendees with accurate information on how to provide home modifications and outpatient services through Medicare Part B coverage.
Student 202 – I Only Want to Treat Patients. I Don’t Want to Worry About the Money. Is This Possible?

Wed, April 7th, 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM EST
Honestly, I think this session is great for students and practitioners. We often talk about what OT is and the type of interventions we provide, but we don’t stop to consider how those services are paid for; if you don’t feel comfortable describing why reimbursement matters or how your services are paid for, this session is probably for you!
To treat patients effectively, practitioners must be knowledgeable about reimbursement and quality measures. This is important not only to our patients and their financial well-being but for job sustainability. This session explores Medicare reimbursement guidelines, the AOTA Code of Ethics, the Models of Reimbursement, and how they influence our daily practices.
Short Course 422 – Utilizing Section GG Self-Care Measures in Postacute Care

Fri, April 9th 3:15 PM – 4:15 PM EST
I applied to do this session for the 2020 Conference, and I’m excited to share it with everyone finally! CMS implemented section GG coding across post-acute care settings to establish a consistent measure of functional outcomes as patients progress through the continuum of care.
OT practitioners should understand the appropriate scoring and utilization of Section GG and the Continuity Assessment Record and Evaluation tool to demonstrate the effectiveness of OT objectively. This session will be helpful to anyone in post-acute care who utilizes Section GG.
