Meet Clarice Grote

Clarice isn’t your typical occupational therapist—she’s a trailblazer in advocacy, a Medicare specialist, and the voice behind Amplify OT. From the halls of Columbia University to the corridors of Capitol Hill, Clarice’s journey is a masterclass in passion and purpose.

With a unique blend of a Bachelor’s in Music Performance and Health Studies from the University of Iowa and a Master’s in Occupational Therapy from Columbia University, she brings both harmony and heart to her work. During her time with the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) as a Level II Fieldwork Student, Clarice didn’t just learn the ropes; she was absorbed and inspired by them.

After graduation, Clarice took on roles that would challenge the status quo. From coordinating AOTA’s Home and Community Health advocacy efforts to leading Missouri’s charge for the occupational therapy licensure compact, she’s made waves wherever she goes.

Whether she’s planning advocacy days or educating the next generation of OTs and OTAs, Clarice is all about impact.

Speaking, Writing, and Inspiring Change

Clarice is no stranger to the podium, the page, or the podcast mic. With presentations at AOTA Inspire and state OT association conferences, plus countless guest lectures across the country, she’s all about making complex topics digestible.

Clinical Expertise

Clarice’s hands-on experience spans from home health to the fast-paced environment of acute care. She’s worked in outpatient therapy, specialized in lymphedema treatment, and even tackled wound care.

During the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, Clarice served on the front lines, providing care in the cardiovascular ICU, COVID-19 wards, and orthopedic units. Her dedication and leadership earned her the distinction of a Level II Occupational Therapist in acute—proof of her commitment to delivering top-notch care, no matter the challenge.

Her experiences and frustrations as a clinician led to the creation of Amplify OT.

Why Amplify OT?

Clarice launched Amplify OT in October 2020, smack in the middle of a global pandemic. It started as a passion project—a way to bring accessible information about advocacy and Medicare to the every-day clinician.

Fast forward, and Amplify OT has grown into a hub for information, inspiration, a popular podcast, and a vibrant online community – the Amplify OT Learning Platform.

It’s not just about policy; it’s about empowering OTs and OTAs to use their voices and make change.
